Murray White Receives BMW Conservation Award

FORT MILL, SC - 2007 marks the tenth year of the collaboration between BMW and Palmetto Conservation to honor an individual for lifetime contributions in preserving South Carolina's natural resources. This year the honoree is Murray White of Fort Mill, recognized for his vision and leadership in protecting the rural character of York County. The award was presented to Murray on October 16 at the home of Anne Springs. Close.

Murray founded the Nation Ford Land Trust in 1989 which has since protected over 4,530 acres in York County, including farmland, miles of river frontage and several areas of importance in the Revolutionary War. As a member of York County Council, Murray was able to forge a strong partnership between the land trust and county government resulting in the creation of South Carolina's first local government land preservation program, the award winning York County Forever.
