Forests Protected around Century Old Summer Camp
Athol and New Salem—In a groundbreaking multi-party effort, Morgan Memorial Goodwill Industries, Mount Grace Land Conservation Trust, the Massachusetts Department of Conservation and Recreation, and the United States Forest Service have permanently protected hundreds of acres in Athol and New Salem.  The lakefront woods surrounding Goodwill’s Fresh Air Camp will now be conserved for campers and the public for generations to come. Kittery Land Trust conserves “the Gem of Chauncey Creek”
The Kittery Land Trust, a non-profit organization dedicated to preserving land and the quality of life in Kittery, has permanently protected 16 acres of shorefront along Chauncey Creek in Kittery Point.  The property includes 2000 feet of frontage on the Creek, one of the longest stretches of undeveloped coastline in Kittery. Read full story. Thousand Islands Land Trust Begins Plans on New Trail
CLAYTON, NY — The Thousand Islands Land Trust (TILT) was awarded $72,858 through the Recreational Trails Program administered by the New York State Office of Parks, Recreation, and Historic Preservation for a year-round, one and one-half-mile fully accessible, non-motorized, diverse use trail.  This project will showcase the 223-acre historic Zenda Farm Preserve’s open space, natural beauty, and wildlife habitat through increasedl recreational use.  In July, TILT added 46 acres, which was once part of the original 70-year old farm, to the preserve on the western edge of Clayton.  The Zenda Farm Preserve is a valuable example of the historic and agricultural heritage of the St. Lawrence Valley. Training Program for Land Stewardship in Vermont
BURLINGTON, VT -- The Land Stewardship Program is an innovative nine-week internship training program for college undergraduates to learn how to properly steward and monitor lands across the state of Vermont. This collaborative collaborative program between the University of Vermont's Rubenstein School of the Environment & Natural Resources and the Student Conservation Association will be piloted this summer. The hike will last 3-4 hours.

Massachusetts Conservation Tax Credit Bill
Mass Audubon is working with The Nature Conservancy to advance legislation that would establish a new state income tax credit for landowners who make voluntary donations of land to public agencies or qualified non-profit conservation organizations.
